All proceeds will benefit the Mission Trip to Mexico. We are still going-- just at a later date! See below for details.

Through much prayer, discussion and advice, we have decided to postpone our mission trip to Mexico which was to take place May 10-17. I'm sure most of you would concur that in light of the situation there, it would be best not to take the risk. We are still planning to go at a later date. Because we decided to postpone, we will lose about $3225 because the Mexican airline that we were using for the last leg of the trip will not reschedule the flights or refund the money. If you would like to donate to help us cover that loss, please just send your donation to 2000 E. Carson St. #300; Pittsburgh, PA 15203.

The Table

Every Tuesday
5:30 PM
Location: Brashear Association at 2005 Sarah Street; Pgh, PA 15203
The Table is a free meal that is offered to everyone. We believe some of the best conversations happen around a dinner table, and so we have offered this meal every Tuesday for the past two years.

We have meals scheduled until June 23, 2009. Then we will be taking a break for the summer because of all the transition going on with Hot Metal.  We are moving into our new office at 27th & Jane on Friday, July 10, and as of that date, all of the Table supplies will in the church basement.  The church is not slated to be open until the fall, and so, we will not be able to serve the Tuesday dinner until the building is open.  As we get closer to the fall, we'll be able to tell when we can begin serving the meal again.

Let’s enjoy these last few weeks of June.  Invite your friends & family to The Table, help out , share a meal and in return, I believe that you will be blessed by this community.  I know I certainly have and I am so grateful for all of your help along the way.

Director of Ministries
Co-Coordinator, The Table

9:30 AM
Location: Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community at 2700 Jane St.; 15203
We will take a special offering at both services on Sunday to send to Haiti. 100% of the funds collected will go to relief efforts.

We will make kits to send to Haiti. Place these items inside a resealable one-gallon plastic bag & then bring them to 2700 Jane St. on Sunday:
1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", No kitchen towels)
1 washcloth
1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
$1.00 to purchase toothpaste (toothpaste is purchased in bulk & added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)

Important Kit Assembly Information
All items included in kits must be NEW items.
All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items-nothing more.
Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.

We will have handouts for you on Sunday to take home as a reminder for what you need to put together a kit.

If you would like to make a trip to Haiti to help with the relief effort, please contact us. We will gather the names of those that are interested, and if the opportunity arises for a group from Hot Metal to go to Haiti, we will then make plans.

Let's all do what we can, and in the meantime...pray. Pray that peace may begin anew, that hope be restored, and that help may be swift and comforting.
